You must keep your PMP certification for three years if you are a PMP certified holder. Your PMP certification will expire, and you will need to retake the PMP certification exam. The PMI Talent Triangle – Obtaining PMP PDU in a Compliant Way
There was no prior categorization or classification of PMP PDU requirements. In 2016, PMI introduced the PMI Talent Triangle. The PMI Talent Triangle outlines three essential skills that a professional project manager should have. These skills include technical project management, business and strategic management, and leadership.
PMI expects PMP certificate holders to earn PDUs as they are compliant with the PMI talent triangle. Learn more in the PMI PDU Guide. For earning PDUs, there are some PMP PDU requirements. These requirements are detailed in our PMP PDU Requirements article.
PDU can be obtained in two main categories. These are Education and Giving back categories. At least 35 PMP PDUs must be earned from the Education category. 25 PMP PDUs are required for the Giving Back category. These are the PMP PDU limits. You can also choose Education category to get all 60 PMP PDUs in order to keep your PMP certification.

Another important aspect of getting PDUs is that you must have at least 8 PDUs in each category of the PMI talent triangle to earn the Education category PDUs. You can only earn 8 PDUs from Working as Practitioner subcategory under the Giving Back PMP PDU Category.

Training or course is the best way to earn PMP PDUs. There are many online and classroom PMP PDU classes. After you have enrolled in a course, training or other activity, you will be awarded PDUs.
Participating in educational events hosted by PMI chapters can earn you PDUs. There are hundreds of PMI chapters. There is usually one chapter of PMI for each country. These chapters are intended to improve the knowledge and experience of professionals in project management. These chapters organize speeches, conferences, and other activities. These activities can be attended and earned PDU.
